Adult dragonflies catch other insects in mid-air. They hold all their spiny legs out forwards to make a catching basket. Into this fly flies, beetles, and even bees, where they are bitten by the powerful jaws of the dragonfly. Sometimes dragonflies scoop up their prey from plants or from the ground.
