They are quite hard to tell apart without examining their teeth! Dolphins have teeth shaped like cones, but porpoise's teeth are spade-shaped. Porpoises are usually smaller than dolphins, and have more rounded bellies. The two groups often swim together and are extremely playful. There are endangered species within both groups, such as the vaquita porpoise and the Yangtze river dolphin.
