What is breadfruit?
Breadfruit is a tree, native to Polynesia, which grows to about 20 metres (65 ft), and has large edible fruits. The fruits are up to 30 cm (I ft) across and are cooked before being eaten as a vegetable. The related jackfruit, from India and Malaysia, also has edible fruits, and these are even larger - up to 90 cm (3 ft) long and weighing as much as 30 kg (66 lb).
