Kapok is similar to cotton and also comes from a plant, this time from a tree, the kapok or silk cotton tree, which grows in tropical America and Africa and can get as tall as 70 metres (230 ft). The fluffy seed fibres are used to stuff mattresses, jackets, quilts and sleeping bags.
