The salty Caspian Sea, which lies partly in Europe and partly in Asia, has an area of about 371,380 sq km (143,390 sq miles). The largest freshwater lake is Lake Superior, one of the Great Lakes of North America. Lake Superior has an area of 82,350 sq km (31,796 sq miles).
