A new skin
Your skin has two layers the epidermis and the dermis. The surface of the epidermis is made up of dead skin cells which overlap like roof tiles. They contain a tough protein, called keratin. As they wear out, they are replaced. Living cells deeper in the dermis divide and push the ones above them up. New cells take three weeks to reach the surface.
