What a nerve!
Nerves are made up of bunches of hundreds of long fibres belonging to nerve cells, called neurones. The fibres are called axons. They run from the cell bodies of the neurones. Shorter fibres, or dendrites, also branch off the cell bodies. The axons of one cell join another cell's dendrites or a muscle to pass signals on.
