Blind people use their sense of touch to help them read. They use a special alphabet, called braille. It consists of patterns of raised bumps printed on paper. Series of bumps represent words or letters. Blind people feel these with their fingertips. Braille was invented by a blind Frenchman, Louis Braille, in 1824.
