The instructions in your chromosomes are called genes. Half come from your mother and half from your father. Genes determine your physical characteristics, your blood group and other features. Some genes are dominant over others. If one of your parents has brown eyes and the other blue, you will probably have brown eyes because brown genes are dominant over blue.
