Test-tube baby
If a mother has blocked Fallopian tubes, sperm cannot reach the egg to make a baby. Doctors can now remove the egg and fertilize it with sperm in a laboratory. When the fertilized cell starts to divide, it is placed in the mother's womb to grow into a baby. The world's first "test-tube" baby was born in July 1978.
