A newborn baby's head looks huge in comparison to its body. Its head alone makes up a quarter of its total length. This is because its brain is already very well developed. By its second birthday, its brain is almost adult size. As the child grows up, the proportions of its body change. By the time it is an adult, its head only makes up an eighth of its total height.
