Most babies are about 50cm (19.5in) tall at birth. A baby's height increases by about half in its first year. At 18 months old, a girl is about half her adult height. A boy is about half his adult height at two years old. A seven-year old girl is about three-quarters her adult height. A boy reaches this stage at the age of nine.
