Mammals are vertebrates which means that they all have backbones. Most of the animals in the world have no backbone. All mammals, except for some sea-cows and sloths, have seven bones in their necks. This includes giraffes whose necks can be 2 m (61/2 ft) long and mice who seem to have no neck at all.
