The biggest animal baby is a blue whale calf. Unlike most mammals, whales and dolphins are born tail first. Because it is born underwater, the baby has to be pushed quickly to the surface by its mother so that it can breathe. A new-born calf can only stay underwater for about 30 seconds at a time.
