Travellers’ tails (Tops and Tails (Animals) Facts)
A kangaroo uses its tail for balance. As it bounds along the ground, its body leans forward and its large tail is stretched out behind. In this way, a red kangaroo can leap over 7 m (25 ft) at a time, nearly four times the length of its body. Giant leaps of 12 m (40 ft) have been known.
