Some mammals do not need to climb well. A gibbon has arms twice as long as its body. The easiest way for it to move through the trees is to swing. Its armspan is about 2.1 m (7ft) and it can swing 12 m (39 ft) from one branch to the next, gripping the branches firmly with its long, curved fingers.
