Some mammals have specially adapted feet for climbing. Rocky Mountain goats in the USA are very sure-footed and can climb up nearly vertical slopes and walk safely along narrow ledges. Their hooves have sharp edges which dig into cracks in the rocks to give a secure foothold and their soles have hollows which stick to rocks like suction pads.
