The fastest animal mountain climber is the chamois, a mountain goat which lives in the Pyrenees and Alps in Europe. It can climb 1,000 m (3,280 ft) in only 15 minutes. At this rate a chamois could climb to the top of Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth, in just over two hours.
