Some dolphins travel in family groups called pods, of up to 1,000 animals. If a dolphin is ill or wounded, the others push it to the surface so it can still breathe. A shark may be able to kill a single dolphin but if it attacks a pod, the dolphins ram it with their 'beaks'. They scare the shark off and may even kill it.
