Out in the cold
Mammals living in very cold places need special survival skills. Many have thick coats for keeping warm and broad feet for walking on ice and snow. The vicuña, a relation of the camel, lives in the Andes in South America. It has such a warm coat that it can even overheat. But it also has bare patches on its legs. To cool down, it turns so that these are facing the wind.
