Unsafe seas
As the seas become more polluted, many sea mammals are in danger of dying out. Chemical waste, sewage and oil spilt from tankers kill the mammals' food supplies. Seals and whales are also hunted for their meat and skins. Today they are protected but some are still killed. It is thought that there are now only 500 Mediterranean monk seals left and that the Caribbean monk seal may be extinct.
