Team work
When you want to move a part of your body, electrical signals run from your brain along nerves to your muscles and tell them to get shorter, or contract. As they contract, they pull on parts of your body. Muscles can only pull, not push, so they often work in pairs. One muscle (the biceps) pulls to bend your elbow. Then it relaxes and its partner (the triceps) pulls to straighten your arm.
