Millions of years ago, two kinds of giant marsupials lived in Australia. Procoptodon was a huge kangaroo, about 3 m (10 ft) tall, twice the height of a modern kangaroo. Diprotodon was a giant wombat and the largest marsupial ever. It weighed as much as a hippopotamus.
