Vampires are the most dangerous bats as they spread diseases such as rabies. There are many legends about vampires. In Eastern Europe it was thought that vampires were evil people who could turn into bats. To gain control over other people, they sucked their blood. Some ways of scaring away vampires were to show them a crucifix or to wear a necklace of garlic.
