Bats have the best hearing of all land mammals. They have very sensitive and often very large ears which some use for locating their prey in the dark. The long-eared bat's body is only 5 cm (2 in) long but its ears are 4 cm (11/2 in) long. If the bat was as big as a hare, its ears would be over 44 cm (11/2 ft) long.
