Bats feed at night and spend the day sleeping in caves or in tree tops. Some caves may be home to thousands of bats. Other bats make temporary shelters. They sleep under banana leaves, in empty burrows or even inside bamboo stems. Some South American bats make tent-like shelters out of palm tree leaves.
