The hare-lipped bat in tropical America is an expert fisherman. It flies low over ponds and lakes. Spotting a fish just below the surface, it swoops down, raking the water with its large claws and scoops the fish up into its mouth. Its legs are not attached to the skin of its wings so they are free to act as fish hooks.
