To avoid the cold winter months, some bats migrate to warmer places. Noctule bats travel the furthest, flying 2,300 km (1,430 miles) from Moscow to Bulgaria. Other bats hibernate in caves or in hollow tree trunks. Most hibernating mammals wake up every 10-20 days but brown bats sleep solidly for up to 66 days.
