Flying phalangers, such as the sugar glider, of Australia, and the flying squirrels of North America can also glide from tree to tree. Flying phalangers are in fact marsupials. They glide with their young in their pouches until the babies are two months old. Flying squirrels are rodents. They can glide as far as 450 m (1/3 mile).
