A few mammals are very good gliders though they cannot actually fly. Flying lemurs, or colugos, of the Far East are about the size of rabbits. Their front and back legs are joined by folds of furry skin down each side. The colugo spreads these out like wings and glides from tree to tree. It can glide for a distance of 91 m (300 ft) before landing.
